(NOTE: Sections for 100x and 200x are not yet complete as I have not yet taken those classes)
Audience
The audience for this assignment is graduate level students enrolled in the class: Introduction to the Nonprofit Sector.
Learning Gap
The learning gap for this lesson is learning and understanding key ethical issues specifically within the nonprofit sector.
After completing the sequence of learning activities, students will:
1. Explore the meaning of ethics in society in general
2. Review the ethical standards of the nonprofit sector
3. Explain how ethical violations undermine specific organizations and the sector as a whole
4. Apply ethical standards to specific situations within the nonprofit sector
5. Consider their own ethical underpinnings and how those impact the ethical environment of their workplace
Instructional Strategy
Each activity/learning tool adds an additional piece of material for the learner to consider. The content is therefore considered segmented (Walsh, 2021). For the most part, the digital content segments build on each other, leading students though a consistent, methodical approach to learning the material.
Digital Content

1. Digital Document (Week 2): This infograph supports the learning content by explaining in detail why an organization needs a Code of Ethics and the steps for designing one.
2. Enhanced Digital Image (Week 3): The content here is a brochure for an imaginary nonprofit called Three Black Cats Sanctuary. The document contains a freely available image of a cat (through Unsplash), which was modified by cropping and filtering to produce a more vivid image. The unedited version is included in the link to the resource.
3. Digital Video (Week 4): The video (with closed captions) provides the students with the context for ethics in the nonprofit sector and provides an opportunity for students to reflect on ethical situations they have encountered in their own lives.
4. Screencast (Week 5): The screencast explains to students how to find scholarly sources in the UMGC library and how to properly cite in APA format. The CC License is one the first slide, which goes by quickly.
5. Podcast (Week 6): The podcast supports the learning gap by Introducing the broad concept of ethics. It would likely appear in the course earlier than the other resources because it does not address ethics in the nonprofit sector specifically but rather provides a more general overview.
6. Interactive Module (Week 7): This final piece of digital content is a multipage interactive resource that brings all other elements together and includes a quiz to test students’ understanding of ethics in the nonprofit sector.
Digital Checklist
The digital check list for each resource can be found in the link to each specific item.
